High achieving entrepreneur Josh Cote, shares his top five key factors that determine how successful someone is in business.
Success is much less the product of one brilliant idea than of a great deal of hard work, that has been well executed and sustained over a long period of time. Successful businessman and entrepreneur Josh Cote knows how important hard work is when looking to achieve business goals. Before setting out to succeed, Josh Cote suggests a person asks themselves the following questions:
- What do you want to accomplish/ what are your goals?
- If your goals are big, are you prepared to make some big sacrifices?
- How aggressive are you going to be towards having a great career?
- How successful do you want to be?
Josh Cote is a renowned entrepreneur in the UK and USA markets, and is dedicated to fostering a greater education of entrepreneurship, business development and opportunities for individual development and growth. Josh Cote believes that a person’s level of success in business is determined by five key factors and he outlines these below.
- 1. The standard of training and development you receive. Josh Cote’s advice is to find a great mentor.
Having a great mentor in business is essential. When someone else thinks you are able to achieve it will push you to work harder and smarter. If any successful businessman is honest, they will certainly admit to having the great advice of a mentor at certain points in their career.
- 2. How well you shape your mentality on winning and your perspective on success.
Josh Cote believes there is something much more basic to winning; something that accounts for consistent success. The key to becoming someone who makes winning a normal course of action is adopting the mentality of a winner; a mentality that people who achieve greatness maintain consistently.
- 3. It is your job to push yourself to get that information and training.
Seek out information. As John Maxwell states in his new book; “Good Leaders Ask Great Questions.” Information and training is vital to any business and to anyone who wants to learn, grow and have the skills necessary to achieve.
- 4. We need to realise that everything is in our control.
As an advocate of the 90/10 principle, successful business people believe that 10% of what happens to us is out of our control but 90% of life is decided by how a person reacts to situations they are confronted with.
- 5. How much time and effort are you willing to put in to get the maximum out.
Many of us spent four years studying to get a degree, some another two years for a Masters. People should reflect on how much time and energy is put into achieve this. If you think of doctors, solicitors, professional athletes, and musicians – how much time they have invested into their development and their skill building? Why do they dedicate that time and effort? If they make it, there is a huge return in the end. Being an entrepreneur is no different. Just take the 10,000 hour rule by Malcom Gladwell; it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill. Very rarely are there overnight success stories – it takes time to master the skills to reach your full potential. Do not give up before you have invested enough time to get great.
