Top 10 Tips for Business Success

Often in business, it can be easy to mistake success due to skill set and experience. However, Josh Cote of EAW Consulting is keen to encourage entrepreneurs to focus on developing a water-tight, resilient attitude to combat adverse situations in the modern business world.

Josh Cote has vast experience mentoring up-and-coming talent. He considers a person’s ability to add value through positivity and forward thinking to be a better asset to a business than an industry specialist not open to new ideas.

Here he shares his top 10 tips for business success:

  1. Have a plan and drive your own agenda – don’t wait for everyone else
  2. Fall in love with developing yourself. Consider the following questions and then make the change required to
    • Who do you want to be?
    • Who do you need to become?
  3. It’s okay to cheat
    • This is not school. In business, just as in life, choose to surround yourself with the best and learn from them – choose to implement what works well from successful people around you.
  4. Choose the speed at which you move.
    • Learn thoroughly and apply quickly. It is okay to make mistakes as you go as long as you continue to move in a forward direction and repeat the same mistakes.
  5. Motivate great people to want to work with you by being useful, resourceful and an action-taker.
    • Always ask:
      • How can I help?
      • What would you like to see from me?
      • What could I do to get more of your time?
  6. Attitude is everything
    • It’s how you get great people to want to spend time with you. Your attitude will typically either attract or push away the things you want.
  7. Don’t listen to the naysayers.
    • What would you rather be known for:
      • Hardworking or lazy?
      • A great attitude or a miserable attitude?
      • Successful or being a failure
      • Never listen to someone making £30K tell you how to make £1 million because the harsh truth is, if they knew how to make £1 million, they would have done it.
  8. You must give 100% – No one ever became great by not committing wholeheartedly to what they wanted to achieve.
  9. Don’t quit – Give yourself enough time to get good.
  10. Have Fun
    • Enjoy the journey to success

Josh Cote urges anyone seeking professional advancement to quit waiting for tomorrow to spring to action, as the competition is already working hard; it’s time to act now.
