A new study has found that 22% of employees wish they were self-employed and in control of their own working practices. EA Worldwide Acquisitions have investigated the findings and shared why they believe self-employment is set to rise as more people seek the freedom to do things their own way.
In a recent report, data published by Co-operatives UK – which tracks levels of self-employment – has found that nearly a quarter (22%) of UK employees in small firms and 27% of those in medium-sized firms want to become self employed. In addition, the report highlighted that over 4.6 million people in the UK are now self-employed, accounting for 15% of the UK’s workforce. This is the highest level since records began. Co-operatives UK, who commissioned the report, have gone on to suggest that the number of workers who are self-employed is likely to increase even further over the next year, as work environments in the UK continue to change.
The benefits of being self-employment are becoming far more apparent to an increasing number of people. EA Worldwide Acquisitions state that those financially driven individuals who choose to work on a self-employed basis will have the power to proactively seek out business and increase revenues for themselves, have the freedom to fit work around family life, are able to escape the cost and pressure of commuting, have the freedom to work on projects for different companies and the excitement of taking on new projects. By being self-employed, one can also work as many or as little hours as they wish, take holidays when they choose and have the autonomy to change the direction of their company at any time they choose.
EA Worldwide Acquisitions believes that becoming an entrepreneur can be more fulfilling that working for someone else and go on to state that there are more opportunities when working on a self-employed basis.
