Josh Cote’s Top Tips for Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneur and business owner, Josh Cote offers his top tips for entrepreneurs and outlines what motivates him.

Josh Cote opened his first business in Boston, USA in 2001, since then the entrepreneur has excelled in the outsourced sales industry and is now the managing director of London’s leading outsourced sales and marketing company, EA Worldwide Acquisitions. Josh Cote is a renowned entrepreneur in both the UK and US and is now dedicated to offering others entrepreneurial opportunities by offering business development and opportunities for individual development and growth.

To help inspire fellow entrepreneurs, Josh Cote is offering his top 5 tips for entrepreneurs:

Tip 1: In life play to win not to lose: “Don’t just play the game look to change the game”
“In sports you don’t win any game just by playing defense, you need to score. My coach used to say you get hurt when you don’t go full speed” says Josh Cote. The business owner feels that many people go through life just wanting to pay the bills on time, people want security and to be comfortable. But Josh Cote believes that entrepreneurs should be pushing for something more, they may have to take risks but that will ultimately lead them to a better way of life.

Tip 2: Be committed
Being successful is never easy; entrepreneurs will face many challenges along the road to success. “A footballer starts training at the age of 6 and faces 10 years of dedication to be ‘one in a million’ chosen to be a professional athlete, there is only a 0.8% chance of success” says Josh Cote. Josh Cote adds that he has been inspired by athletes such as LeBron James and Tiger Woods, who persevered and were committed to becoming professional athletes in their chosen sports. “Being successful is not easy and it takes commitment to become great at anything” adds the business owner.

Tip 3: Associate yourself with positive successful people
Successful people often look at other successful people as a means to motivate themselves and use them as models to learn from. Josh Cote believes entrepreneurs should have the attitude, “If they can do it, I can do it too.” To get great at something people should model themselves after someone who has already figured it out. Energy and attitude is contagious, this also includes negative influences, so it’s best to be surrounded by positive people. “Many people are not into personal growth or making themselves better. That’s okay but they will never be successful or make money, that’s a fact” adds Josh Cote.

Tip 4: Successful people are bigger than their problems; most people are smaller than their problems
Success does not come without hassle, sacrifice, headaches and responsibility. Most people tend to avoid problems as they do not like conflict, so they see the problems and run. “The goal is to grow yourself bigger than any problem you have: grow your strength of character and attitude” states Josh Cote. Josh Cote suggests drawing out a 1-10 scale to help understand problems, “If you’re a level 2 attitude and a level 5 problem you can’t deal with it but if you’re a level 10 attitude with a level 8 problem you are in control.” He adds, “Never play the victim and always remember everything is in your control. Don’t focus on the problem, focus on the solution or the goal.” It doesn’t matter if there are negative situations, it matters how they are dealt with.

Tip 5: Urgency: Attack your life, you only get one shot at it
Entrepreneurs can’t sit and wait for things to happen, they have to make them happen, and fast. Here Josh Cote offered his favourite quote by Napoleon Hill “Think and Grow Rich”

Life is a just employer,

He gives you what you ask,

But once you have set the wages,

Why, you must bear the task.
