Following a recent study that claims young professionals are abandoning large organisations in favour of less conventional working environments, EA Worldwide Acquisitions investigate into the key factors responsible for this new trend.
A recent online article by the Independent titled, ‘Young professionals in Britain are ‘abandoning big companies’ in favour of ‘less conventional’ working environments’, (published on 1st September 2015) found that large companies are struggling to compete with jobs offering a ‘less conventional’ work environment. Escape the City surveyed 1000 young professionals and found that 50% did not see themselves continuing to work for the company they were employed by, with start-up companies such as Uber, Airbnb and Vita Coco being more attractive. In addition, the study revealed that increasing numbers of young people are attracted by low pay on the job training that is being offered by small businesses.
Leading outsourced sales and marketing firm EA Worldwide Acquisitions believe there are many benefits and opportunities available to young people when working within a small business. Young people have a much greater opportunity of getting involved in the heart and soul of a small business compared to large corporations with very fixed departments and processes. Small businesses also look for a smaller amount of flexible workers with a variety of skills, consequently resulting in individuals having the opportunity to make a difference in many aspects of the business. EA Worldwide Acquisitions go on to state that young people are attracted to small businesses because they can become much more involved with the decision making process whilst working directly with the management.
